home of fairstainable condoms and menstruation articles.
Located in a courtyard in the heart of Berlin Kreuzberg, Einhorn is a ‘fairstainable’ company producing products for sexual health.
The prominent feature of the existing space is the open floor plan and old warehouse character. Beautiful rounded ceilings, whitened brick walls, steel beams and large windows on both sides provide a bright and flexible space.
Our aim was to add warmth and structure to the usual creative Einhorn chaos, as they said, without losing the original warehouse feel. The design provides space for diverse demands and adds a distinctive natural warm character. We used pine plywood as a main material and planned glass dividing walls to separate the space, but still keep interesting visual connections.
The brief was to create several meeting rooms, a kitchen, workshop space, a common coworking area and a library. A combination of straight and curved walls creates unusual spaces and little nooks to enable both seclusion and common spaces to work, meet and chat.
We used the steel beams on the ceiling as a simple way to attach lights and hanging elements with magnets, and customized door handles to make the space uniquely Einhorn style.
